Right to Free Vaccinations

Unpaid carers are eligible for free flu vaccinations and other health-related support to protect both themselves and the people they care for 

Right to Support Services 

Carers can access various support services, including respite care, training, and information about their rights and available resources. 

Right to be Identified as a Carer: 

Carers have the right to be recognised as such by health and social care professionals

Right to a Carer’s Assessment: 

Carers are entitled to an assessment of their needs, which helps identify the support they require to continue their caring role 

Right to Protection from Discrimination: 

Carers are protected from discrimination in the workplace and other areas due to their caring responsibilities 

Right to Flexible Working: 

Employed carers have the right to request flexible working arrangements to help balance their work and caring responsibilities

Right to Time Off for Emergencies: 

Carers are entitled to take time off work for emergencies related to their caring role, although this is usually unpaid 

Right to be Consulted on Hospital Discharge: 

Carers have the right to be involved in discussions regarding the discharge of the person they care for from hospital
